This Homemade Natural Probiotic Lemonade Will Solve Your Digestive Problems

While eating a healthy diet can do a lot to improve our overall health, there are times when we need to cleanse our systems in order to get rid of the bad bacteria that have found its way into our systems.

One of the best ways to cleanse the digestive system is by taking a probiotic. While probiotics are found naturally in your body, they can also be found in supplements and foods. Probiotics can be purchased as supplements and taken each day to promote a healthy digestive system.

Probiotic supplements can be expensive, which is why many people choose to make their own. There are several foods that you can eat in order to help with digestion.

In addition, you can easily make your own probiotic lemonade that is not only easy to do, but tastes good as well.

Probiotic Lemonade

Ingredients

  • 10 lemons juiced
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 cup whey (can be purchased or made)
  • 3 quarts filtered water
  • Gallon jar

Instructions

The first thing to do is to put the ¾ cup of sugar in the bottom of your glass jar. Add about a cup or two of hot water in order to dissolve the sugar. Once the sugar is dissolved add the lemon juice and then fill the jar about ¾ full with the filtered water.

The liquid should be at room temperature. Add in the whey and then cover the jar tightly with the lid. Let the jar sit covered on the counter for about 3 days.

The longer that you allow it to sit the less sugar there will be in the final drink.

After it has set at room temperature for 3 days put it in the refrigerator and drink about four to six ounces each day. The flavor of the lemonade will develop while it is in the fridge.

The sugar will be fermented out of the drink, which will make it quite tart. If the lemonade is too tart for you add in some stevia to help sweeten it up.

You can also substitute the juice of ten limes instead of lemons for something different if you desire.

Adding about a teaspoon of molasses to the sugar will provide you with extra minerals and give the juice a sweeter taste. You can also blend the drink with ice to make a great smoothie.

To make the whey used in the lemonade you will need a 32 ounce container of full fat plain yogurt, cheesecloth, a bowl and some rubber bands or string.

Simply pour the container of yogurt into the cheesecloth that is tied onto a bowl with a rubber band. Let the yogurt sit overnight. The liquid that is in the bowl in the morning is the whey that you can use for your probiotic lemonade.
